To reduce the fear of dogs in a car, train or plane, the solution is to get them used to it when they are young. The dog is not afraid of what he knows, and the sooner he uses various means of locomotion, the less apprehension he will have. Also, train him to travel alone. If he has assimilated that the separation is only temporary, everything will be fine! To alleviate the situation, it is sometimes good to give a light sedative. If he can't stand being alone (fear, aggression, barking), consider another form of transportation.

A well-behaved dog, which does not bark, jump on people, is not aggressive, will be an ideal travel partner. He will also have to stoically support the leash, the muzzle or the transport basket (depending on the size, the means of transport, the law).

Wherever you go, in any vehicle, there are rules to follow: recall of vaccines carried out; dewormed dog (about 2 weeks before); packed luggage (bowls, bedding, brush, toys ...), first aid kit (Velpeau band, sterile compresses, Elastoplast, hydrogen peroxide 10 vol., scissors, tweezers, tie, Marseille soap ...) prepared, certificate of good health carried. About 10 hours before departure, give him a light meal and leave it on an empty stomach during the journey (unless it lasts more than 12 hours). Make him swallow, before leaving, an antinausea and / or a sedative. Warning: a dog under sedation sometimes has difficulty moving! Do not forget this if you are dealing with a large dog. Instead, give her some antihistamine-based cough syrup. Walk the dog before you go, make him run so that he is tired during the trip. Provide bags and papers for his needs. For any means of locomotion, watch the ambient temperature. If it is too high, create a draft or put a wet compress on the animal's head. Also avoid other heat, period of estrus, where male and female are untenable!
